So - September already and it's beginning to feel like the end of summer. My kids go back to school after 5 weeks of morning TV, family fun and some time travelling round & seeing the family. We seem to have had the best of the warm weather (although this week's a bit milder) and the nights are beginning to get a bit darker. It won't be long before it starts feeling like Autumn and we wave goodbye to the garden for another year. Am I beginning to sound pessimistic? Sorry! I do like the warmer weather!
We've had a pretty full on summer to be honest. The highlight was of course the birth of JJ at the start of August, and he's gradually settling into the Hemming household and acquainting himself with the rest of us. Jo & I are still recovering from the knock on effects of his feeding & sleeping habits which are at best random! But all in all as we think about the atumn, we're looking forward to getting JJ into more of a pattern and the family into a routine.
Work's going to be busy this term (when is it not???) with lots to get underway. We start working our new pattern of services with the intention of helping a number of local congregations underway. Our church has a new name - 'Vineyard Network Church' so we have logos, flyers & websites to redesign, ammend and update as well as the reglular planning of bands, kidsworkers, rotas, curriculums, training, etc etc. It's all go but quite exciting.
Last time I promised I'd tell you what I've been listening to. I recently bought a new album by Verra Cruz. These guys are fantastic rock musos and great blokes. They write great songs and play them well loud & well tight. If you haven't heard of them, check out their website on www.verracruz.com and if you like what you hear, buy their new album (Emancipation Day) from HMV or somewhere. I really recoomend it!
As well as Verra Cruz, I've been enjoying Green Day's acclaimed 'American Idiot' album (you can't beat a good bit of rock music) as well as more Jonny Cash - the live prison recordings are immense and really edgy.
Hope you're having a good day wherever you are. Catch you soon, Nigel
